Description & Context

Launched at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in the presence of Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the ICT Policy Framework 2016 set ambitious targets of Rs. 1.2 lakh crore in IT exports and 10 lakh direct IT jobs within 5 years. Nodal administration rested with the ITE&C Department, with incentive applications processed through the Consultative Committee on IT Industry (CCITI), land allotment executed by TSIIC, and skill development anchored at TASK. The policy succeeded in exceeding its export target—reaching Rs. 1,28,807 crore by FY21—and laid the institutional groundwork for Telangana's IT sector before being superseded by the ICT Policy 2021-26 on 16 September 2021.
